At KASS, we recognize and celebrate the power of strong leadership, strategic investments, and legislative support in shaping the future of Kentucky’s public schools.
Rockcastle County Schools stands out as a prime example of how targeted funding and advocacy are driving innovation and expanding opportunities for students. From state-of-the-art facilities to career-focused pathways and enhanced school safety, the district is committed to providing students with the tools they need to succeed.
The construction of the new Rockcastle County Middle School marks a major milestone for the district. This state-of-the-art facility, made possible through legislative facility funding, is designed to support student collaboration, critical thinking, and long-term success.
With modern learning spaces and innovative design, the new middle school will provide students and educators with the resources they need to excel for years to come. KASS recognizes the dedication of Senator Brandon Storm and Representative Josh Bray, whose advocacy played a key role in securing funding for this transformative project.
Their support underscores the importance of investing in learning environments that inspire and empower.
Thanks to SEEK funding, Rockcastle County Schools has expanded career-focused learning opportunities, preparing students for in-demand industries.
🍽 Culinary Arts Pathway – Students receive hands-on training in food service operations, meal preparation, and kitchen management using industry-grade tools and real-world experiences. This program prepares students for certifications, internships, and careers in hospitality.
💻 Computer Science Pathway – Through a partnership with WE Lead, Rockcastle County students now have access to cybersecurity, programming, and advanced computing courses, including AP Computer Science Principles. This program ensures students graduate with the technical skills needed to succeed in Kentucky’s growing technology sector.
These pathways are proof that strategic investments in career and technical education open doors for students. The ongoing support of local legislators and the Kentucky General Assembly continues to create valuable learning opportunities that equip students for success.
A safe learning environment is essential for student success. With the help of legislative funding for school security, Rockcastle County Schools has expanded its School Resource Officer (SRO) team, adding three additional officers for a total of five SROs serving students across the district.
SROs do more than provide security:
They act as mentors, role models, and trusted adults who help foster a welcoming and supportive school culture.
Their presence creates stronger connections with students, ensures proactive safety measures.
SROs build positive relationships that strengthen the school community.
KASS commends Senator Storm and Representative Bray for their leadership in supporting school safety initiatives, ensuring that Kentucky’s students and staff have the protection and resources they need to thrive.
The work happening in Rockcastle County Schools is a shining example of how
strong leadership,
strategic funding, and
legislative support can create lasting opportunities for students. From cutting-edge learning environments to expanded career pathways and a focus on student safety, the district is setting a high standard for public education in Kentucky.
