The Legislative Issues Group Meeting is with local board members and education leaders across the Commonwealth. They will come together to discuss state legislative issues for the upcoming 2011 legislative session. We will work together to develop our 2011 legislative agenda.

Come learn the steps for getting your career in school administration off to a great start while laying the foundation for your future success. Attendees will gain in-depth knowledge and skills on all aspects of leading a school. Presented as a pre-conference workshop of the KASA Annual Summer Institute. Qualifies for 6 hours of EILA credit.

The purpose of this workshop is to provide the knowledge, skills, and tools that will increase an aspiring candidate’s chances of being appointed superintendent in a district that is the right fit.

This training takes a practical approach to assisting individuals in gaining the knowledge, skills, tools and confidence needed to pursue a position as a superintendent that is the right fit for both the candidate and the school district. Participants will learn powerful steps to enhance their chances of being appointed superintendent while gaining an understanding of what to expect once they become an applicant, ranging from what jobs to apply for to the interview with the board of education to being named superintendent.

Morehead State University is proud to offer a week-long Advanced Placement Summer Institute for teachers with the desire to excel in the pursuit of creative ideas. The Institute makes a difference for teachers seeking guidance in beginning an AP course or strengthening an existing course. These sessions offer information to the new teacher preparing to teach Advanced Placement courses and to update and refine skills of the experienced teacher.

The Institute runs from July 12 - 16, 2010.

The Center for Gifted Studies at Western Kentucky University is offering its 27th annual Advanced Placement (AP) Summer Training Institute for teachers June 27 – July 2. The institute will feature College Board-certified consultants. The cost is $500, and on-campus housing is available for an additional cost.

The Kentucky Board of Education will meet Wednesday, June 9, in the State Board Room of the Capital Plaza Tower in Frankfort. A live Webcast of the meeting will be available at beginning at approximately 9:00 a.m. that day.
