Learn how to better manage your certified and classified employees as you work to increase student achievement!

In November 2008, the American School Board Journal asked the Council of School Attorneys to identify the most common types of legal issues faced by 21st Century Schools. Overwhelmingly, the group ranked employment- related issues such as teacher discipline, workplace discrimination and termination number one on that list.

During Types of Employee Discipline, participants will focus on the most common disciplinary options used in schools and districts as they consider ways in which disciplinary measures may create legal risk when used in either an unreasonable or an inappropriate manner. As an important part of this workshop, participants will also analyze video-based re-enactments of actual disciplinary cases to apply practical, research- supported strategies for minimizing disciplinary risk in an "offline" environment.

KASA - Understanding & Raising Student Aspirations
When
Tuesday, October 20, 2009
9:00am - Register
Where
140 North Fourth Street
Louisville, KY 40202
Other Info
Raising student aspirations is not one more goal for schools to attain in an already overly long list of objectives. The truth of the matter is that inspiring students to reach their dreams and improving student achievement are mutually reinforcing. When administrators ensure that students in our schools have self-worth, are actively engaged in their learning, and have a sense of purpose, they create environments in which students set goals for themselves, are inspired to work hard to reach those goals, and provide a context in which students can be successful academically.

This workshop is based on 30 decades of research built around student aspirations - the ability to dream and set goals for the future, while being inspired in the present to reach those goals.
